I am a DONA certified Doula serving the western suburbs of Chicago, who has over fourteen years of experience helping parents welcome their babies into the world. I have knowledge and/or training in the Bradley Method, Hypnobirthing, and Rebozo Techniques. I am also a certified Bringing Home Baby Educator.
I have the personal belief that as women transition into motherhood, be it their first or subsequent time, they are profoundly changed often with a new sense of respect for their inner strength. Honoring that transition is something to be respected.
Helping a woman tap into that inner strength, while trusting in her own body and what it is capable of is something I am passionate about.
Aside from being a doula, I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a minor in Biology, and a Master's degree in Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California where I was working in hospital psychiatry until I moved to Illinois with my family.
I am married and have four beautiful children, ranging in age from 24 years old to 11 years old. Two of my children were born in hospitals and two were born in our home. I had doulas assist me at a couple of my births and I found the continuous support to be invaluable to my birth outcome.
I also love to read, garden, bike ride, and take hikes with my family. I am a big believer in not only the power and wisdom of our own bodies, but in the power and wisdom of our Earth and in nature. A love for nature has helped my own children to trust themselves and has fostered curiosity and creativity.
