About me
I have worked as a DONA trained doula for the past fourteen years and have consistently been certified through DONA International. I have knowledge of the Bradley Method, Hypnobirthing, coping and comfort techniques in labor, and breastfeeding support.
I am a certified Rebozo trained doula, using the ancient techniques of the Rebozo to offer comfort measures to the laboring woman and her partner. I am also trained in the use of T.E.N.S. and acupressure as other comfort measures in labor. Furthermore, I am a Gottman trained, Bringing Baby Home Educator, offering private workshops designed to help new parents transition successfully and joyfully into parenthood.
I have the personal belief that as women transition into motherhood, be it their first or subsequent time, they are profoundly changed, often with a new sense of respect for their inner strength. Helping women tap into that inner strength, while trusting in their own body and what it is capable of achieving, is something I am passionate about.
Aside from being a Doula, I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a Master's degree in Social Work. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California where I was working in hospital psychiatry until I started raising my children.
I am married and have four incredible children; two who were born in hospitals, and two who were born at home. I had a Doula assist me in a couple of my own births and found the continuous support to be invaluable to my birth outcome.
